I was wanting a 72x2 belt sander for a long time but there was 2 problems
1 the price and 2 the availability in the uk so I thought Would make my self. I did however purchase the wheels with the bearings in them and the motor i also copied most of the design from a youtube maker called Jeremy Schmidt he did a great job of his and also made lots of attachments for it, I will put a link to his YouTube site below.

These belt grinders/sanders the 2x72 type are perfect for knifes making. The 2 stands for 2inch the width of the belt and the 72 is 72inch the length of the belt, because they are 72 inch long the belt has time to cool down more on a full rotation this helps by not getting the steel blank hotter than it needs to be hence not hardening the blank prematurely.
